| Frequently Asked Questions Here are answers to some of the questions you may have about our Community Bulletin Board |
What is the rvNetLinx Community Bulletin Board all about? Our Community Bulletin Board is all about RVers helping other RVers. Use the board to post information helpful to RVers, hints and tips you've found useful, fun places to go in your RV, great campgrouds you've found or any other little tidbits. You can also post questions if you need help of any kind or respond to someone else's postings. It's your board, so please use it. Return to the Top Who can see what has been posted? The whole world ! This is a community bulletin board and anyone who goes to the bulletin board can see everything; postings, questions and responses. There is no feature to post a private message or response. If there was, it wouldn't really be a community board, would it? Return to the Top What type of postings are allowed? Almost anything you can think of is allowed. This is an RV bulletin board, so naturally topics related to the RV lifestyle will be the main focus. However, there are other topics of interest that could be posted as well. For instance, if you had a great trip to Disneyland and want to share your experiences and helpful tips, go right ahead. Even if your trip didn't involve an RV, your helpful hints could be of general interest to the community. Again, it's you board so use it as you like. Return to the Top Are there any postings that are not allowed? Yes there are! This is not an advertising forum or vendor corner. Nor is this a place for vendors to place ads and sell their wares. Therefore, postings of a commercial nature are not allowed on this bulletin board. Return to the Top Will my postings ever be edited or deleted? Under normal circumstances, no. However, we will monitor the board to ensure that it is being used properly. Postings by vendors (see postings not allowed above) will be removed immediately. Additionally, we want to keep the board clean, so any postings of a pornographic nature, improper language or other content unappropriate for the general public will also be removed. It is not our intent to control the postings on this board, but we do reserve the right to edit or delete postings as appropriate for this board. Return to the Top Which fields are required and which are optional? The three fields that are required to post are your name (or an alias if you prefer), the subject and of course a message (otherwise why would you be posting). However, you may want to seriously consider also putting in your e-mail address so someone can contact you directly if needed. Return to the Top Can I use HTML tags anywhere in my posts? No, you can not use HTML tags in any field except the body of the message. If you enter HTML tags, the script will just throw out everything in <>'s. In the future we may consider allowing the tags. Return to the Top Why are there colons in the message section when I go to post a follow-up? Colons appear in the message dialog box when you follow up on a message to indicate that those lines are quoting the previous document. Even though you could essentially delete these lines, it's a good idea to leave them intact as a running reference. Return to the Top Why didn't my post show up? Your post most likely did not show up because your browser did not reload the page after posting. It simply pulled it out of cache. Try pressing the reload button on your browser and your posting should then appear. Return to the Top Why didn't the link to my page show up in my posting? There are two things that you might look at. First, maybe you didn't include the Link Title. If you choose to enter the Optional Link URL, both the URL and the Link Title must be entered. Secondly, you might have entered the URL wrong or have a syntax error. The guest book script scans the URL to see if it "looks" like a valid URL address. For instance, you may not have entered the "http://" as part of the URL (you need to enter it). Or it might just be a typo, for instance you entered "http://www..myurl.com". Notice the two ".." between the www and myurl ? Return to the Top Where can I get the scripts for this program? The scripts are written in Perl and created by Matt Wright. They are free to anyone who wishes to use them. You can get this script as well as others at Matt's Script Archive: http://worldwidemart.com/scripts/. Return to the Top |
